Butterflies at the botanical gardens in Pondicherry

This one seemed to have its wings clipped off.

All the common crow butterlies i saw at the gardens had a strange yellow-orange appendage at the end of their bodies. Not quite sure what that was, Kehimkar's book does not mention it.
