Lane of conifers

There is a path in Lalbagh, not far from the glass house, that is lined with a particular kind of gymnosperm - the Juniperus procera. The conifers remind me of the rugged beauties of the northwestern parts of the US - the western hemlocks, spruces and the douglas firs.




I picked up one of the cones from a local park a while back.


I wonder how these coniferous survive here, in the tropics? Perhaps the elevation of Bangalore makes it a little easier to grow them here. I certainly have not seen them elsewhere in South India.
