Lavender

If the neighbourhood wasnt colourful enough with the yellows and pinks of the trumpet trees, this blue jacaranda (jacaranda mimosifolia) decided it was time to bloom. Little lavender trumpet like flowers appeared, not just all over the tree, but carpeting the ground below as well.

Good to see you back in action, Arati! I have never seen a lavender tree until now. Bangalore must be looking so pretty at this time of year.

It is good to know what these trees are called, I have one in my garden and we know it as a Lilac tree. Last week, I made some yellow dye by boilking the twigs. I am now waiting for the tree to bloom (it is late this year) so I can get a little green dye for my rovings. I have enjoyed all three of your posts. :)

thanks for your comment Jasmine. I'm finding your dye making rather amazing!! and yes, given where you are i guess the blooming will start only much later. it's peak flowering season here in south india now!
