Shravanabelagola is a town in Karnataka that is renowned for the monolithic statue, possibly the largest stone statue in the world of Gomateswara. It is hence an important Jain destination.
The trail that is visible on the left side of the hill is the one that one climbs up to view the statue. The inscriptions at the base of the statue are from the 10th century AD.
