The work of fire ants

Fire ants do a great job of stitching up leaves. Somewhere in the midst of all these leaf-homes is the queen ant. For more interesting information on what these ants do to the leaves, check out my post from last year.

Just a guess, but I think your common name "fire ant' is a different kind of ant than is called fire ant in other parts of the world.
