Happy Independence Day

Reading the posts of my fellow bloggers has inspired me to start a little kitchen garden. I'm just back from the local pot seller and I think I will start out with onions and garlic. Then maybe some chillis, ginger, fenugreek and mint. Any other 'easy to grow in small pots' kitchen garden suggestions?

Lovely shot. Is that the Gulmohar in Chennai or am I mistaken?

Our tree has already finished with flowers and tiny leaves have started spreading out. So the maid is happy she need not collect all those red petals any more for compost!

thank you, yes it is the gulmohar, in bangalore though - this is the view from our balcony.
right behind the gulmohar is the raintree. both are just about done flowering for the season. it was a riot of colour a few months back.

Maybe you could do eggplants, too? Lemongrass and basil do well in pots, too, in my experience at least.

You can also grow tomatoes, potatoes, and coriander.
